【The state of New Mexico】

《Desolate nature where the tragedy in Hiroshima was produced》

The Spanish arrived there in the middle of the 16th century,and they built the first settlement for the white on the shore of the Rio Grande,but after 1821,the flag of Mexico which was independent from Spain had fluttered in that area for 25 years.

A war broke out between Mexico and America in 1846,after two years Mexico was defeated,and the greater part of the northern area belonged to America then,in addition,America also bought the southern area with the Gadsden Purchase in 1953,but it was 1912 when the place becomes the state formally.

I’m going to express on the Gadsden Purchase. A businessman called James Gadsden brought a negotiation of buying over the southern part on the present New Mexico and the present Arizona from the Mexican government as special envoy for the Pierce President.
