【The Gulf War broke out after the Cold War was over】

〔Japan was also a loser in the Gulf War〕

While lots of people shed　blood in the battlefield in the multinational force,it's just that Japan paid money. Is it all right? This caused to debate how Japan should contribute the international society.

Then the Japanese government proposed that Japan should also make a contribution to the international society,and dispatched military unit to the Perusian Gulf so as to get rid of underwater mines.

The underwater mines react on metals and explode, so the wooden ships were dispatched.

How should Japan contribute to the internatioanl society?

We argued the pros and cons 賛否両論 on the matter then, so the bill what is called PKO was approved.

It seemed that the Gulf War asked us what Japan could do in order to contribute to the peace in the International society,but the argument was caused by the pressure from abroad,American criticism,so it didn't lead calm discussion in Japan.
