Everyone may be surprised, but if acquiring the way of using get, they also can master English conversation…it's a preface of a book,『Get と Give だけで英語は通じる』😃

I'm gonna to express myself in English, being based on the book, and continue to say its preface in English.

Some people say like the next.“When reading an English newspaper or an English magazine,we seldom find both the get and the give.”

They may not have discovered indeed, but have they ever read conversations surrounded by quotations in an article? Have they ever read a paperback? Have they ever listened to a theatrical elocution 台詞回し in a movie?☝

Both the get and give appear in them so much. The two words are verbs in colloquial English where real intentions are exchanged. They are extremely basic colloquial English.🇬

As a result, they are rarely used in written language which puts on airs, and there are lots of phrases which aren't real intention in the written language.🇬

For example,it's said the Royal Diana…

【Continuation of the thread itself.】

When making an official speech, the Royal Diana seldom used the get and give, but when doing marital quarrel with the Prince William, she adopted both the get and give frequently, and expressed herself frankly.👸

At first, both of the give and got are strong verbs, for the get changes into got, got, and the give also turns into gave, given. The verbs changed themselves,so we call them strong verbs.

Contrary to it,some other verbs like a walk change walked, walked. The walk itself can't change. Without adding ed,the verbs can't change,so we call them weak verbs.

If fighting, the strong one wins.As a result, the strong verbs like the get and give have elbowed their ways through other verbs, and have appeared so frequently.

However, the colloquial expressions like the give and the get have hardly used in English textbook,so we the Japanese can't understand English native speakers' remarks and can't make ourselves understood in English to them forever.😥

>> 5 【If acquiring the get,we can master English conversation.】

Therefore,we'll never learn to be able to speak English which is natural and comprehensible eternally, but if searching thoroughly the expressions of the get and give, and mastering the usages, the number of our English expressions will increase extremely. We don't have to increase number of English words which we learn by heart.☺

Then we can understand wonderfully what English native speakers say,we can read bestsellers of English paperbacks more speedy,we can understand what actors or actresses say in the movies. In short,we can grasp everyday conversation which English native speakers talk.😍

It seems to be a simple theory, for the get and give have appeared frequently overwhelmingly.

【Let's use the get and give if wanting to acquire 『斬れる英語』】

The get is an energy itself which makes English move. The author of the book,『Get と Give だけで英語は通じる』said like the next.

He was relaxed in the subway, then several hulking white men got into the subway. They seemed to be in junior high school or in high school.

They made noise so much that some of them jumped on the seat with their shoes on,and continued frolicking ふざける.Their manners were so bad that the author couldn't endure it any more.💢

He yelled at them.“Get your off the seat!”They were surprised at him and lowered their feet from the seat, and suddenly became silent,so he was also astonished at them.😲

He thought like that.“Did they misunderstand me for the Mafia or gangster? No! The expression in which the get was used has great effect on them.”💡

However,an old lady next to him remonstrated with him over his behavior. She said to him.“I thought you are brave, but if going on getting angry at it,I'm afraid you'll continue to be indignant all day.”👵

The get is the base of American English,if putting it forcibly, the get is American culture itself, for taking into action positively and getting what they've wanted to win is good. They find it good. It's the American have thought.💡

Why are they greatly Influenced by the get? The origin of both the get and give was the Scandinavia language which was brought by Danish invasion into England.

While both of the words have old history, plenty of people have used the words for centuries, for the words are efficient.😃

We the humanrace are originally lazy,so we choose something comfortable, avoid something unpleasant, and select easy way.We are apt to do that.😳

As to the language,we tend to do the same thing. The English seems to become simpler.Instead of using difficult words, they have made do with the get and give in lots of cases, for the two words are efficient.👍

Besides, the expressions in which the get and give are used are simple and concise. They are so simple and concise that they get to the point. As a result, they become Englis which have great impact.😃

If wanting to acquire the English which conveys others what we think clearly, learning lots of expressions in which the get and give are used by heart is the best way.😃

The author said.“I've been engaged in English for almost 40 years, and it's my theory.”Contrary to it,I've never studied English as long as he has,so I'm not sure of what he emphasises.💦

【Grasp the rhythm of English conversation with the get and give.】

For example,There is a Japanese phrase,『出世する』.Succeed is equivalent to the Japanese phrase, but we don't have to use it.We can do with other phrase, get ahead.

There are lots of the same cases.Without using『scold』we can do with『give it to.』Without using『introduce』we can do with『give someone.』

Thus,if making full use of the get and give,English conversation becomes by far easier. In addition,if using the get and give, without using other exaggerated words like the succeed, scold, and introduce, our English will become natural.

The first thing is that the get and give make our English rhythmical, brisk, and lively. It's the best way to master English.

【Understand native speakers's reamrks really with the get and give.】

English everyday conversation in which the use and give are used will be adopted more and more in the middle of being insisted on necessity of early English education.

While the culture in the English-speaking world regards the get as good, our Japanese culture thinks of the give as good, for we make much of the virtue of modesty.

In consequence, the Japanese itself has few expressions of idea of getting something, and possibly without realizing,we may have repulsed by using the get.💦

However, lots of young Japanese people don't give their seats to the old,and go on sitting.Without giving their seats, they get their seats, but it doesn't seem they don't mind a bit.

I'm sure there seems to be more appropriate expressions, but nothing occurred to me at all,so I dare to use the get and give.I'm afraid it may have been strange English.😳

In addition, bizarre Japanese expression,『get しちゃおう』has spread over Japan. The culture of get is establishing,it's good, but keeping the balance with the give is essential.

By the way,why the Western countries have the culture of the get? Western religion is based on the people's contact with the God.

The God which is only and absolute gave the people varied things, and they obey the God's will,so they think they have rights to get what the God gave.

Therefore, the horizontal line of the get which is among the people is equivalent to the vertical line of the get which is the relation between the God and human beings.

In short,Western culture of the get and other concept of the give are being balanced well.

On the other hand,we the Japanese have never been that idea.We have neither consciousness of contract with the God nor of the right which we receive from the God.

There are Japanese Gods everywhere such as in trees or flowers. We are deeply appreciated the existence of the nature itself,so we've never thought we have the right of gaining something from the God.

If I had to compare the Western culture with the Japanese one,I'd say that the next thing. When being in front of the gods,we stand on ceremony. We've never make ourselves at home.We have not only fear, but respect for the gods. It's just that we prorstrate ourselves in front of the gods.

In a word,we the Japanese like self-effacement 没我.We like being given from the gods.

We the Japanese have the culture of the give in which we make much of handing over something. If so,are we good at expressions in which we use the give?

We aren't.We are poor at the expressions, for plenty of the gives are used when the sentences of the get is the case of the tail wagging the dog 主客転倒.

In short,as having not any identity,we can't use both of the get and the give at our will.In addition,if we get,or we're given something concrete like money, flower, food and so on,we'll be able to recognize them well.

However they use the give even for a kiss, smile, and hug,so we're apt to be confused,so we've never been familiar with the expressions like“give him a kiss”“give him a smile”or“give him a hug”.

Besides, they use both the get and give for mental things like affection and mind,so we don't know what we'll do.

While we the Japanese never regard spirits as substance, the Western people analyze even the spirits and place them things which they can define,so the expressions of the get and give are being created.

This book refers to culture behind the expressions of the get and give whenever there is chance,so it isn't only a cultured book of high level as the one of English conversation, but suitable for English beginners.

By the way,if borrowing a room for an office,we can also use the get.

Rule11『When making reservation,we can use the get.』

When an English native speaker says to Japanese taxi drivers,“Holiday inn”,it's said that almost all the taxi driver lean their heads to one side,“What's the 原田苑?”

Listening to remarks of native English speaker exactly is hard,I'm wondering.

Rule 12『When understanding something,they use the get.』

Got it?

わかったか?

Got it.

わかりました。

When watching an American movie,we can recognize that the sort of got is frequently used. The got means grasping something.

The phrases are abbreviations of“You got it? ”“I got it.”We've also often heard the got in the business world.

When asking someone to offer another $2 million, and the offer is accepted, they say like the next.

“Another $2 million?”“You got it.”

When dealing with something commercial,it's the same, the phrase of“I got it” is used. It's an abbreviation of“I got the deal.”so the deal was done.It means that the deal is made.

Rule13『When expressing 昇 of 昇給,its idea is the get.』
Can I get the rise?
給料を上げていただいていいですか? If saying “Raise my salary.” it's right grammatically, but it's never used.

For example, when saying “boiling water” we should not say “湯を沸かす” but should say “水を沸かす” in Japanese, but they usually say “boiling water” daily life,so it's right.

The get is the same,so we should use the get like that,so we should learn the phrase by heart, “Can I get the raise?”

If being said to “I'll give you a rise.” almost all of the people will be happy. Some foreign people who work in a foreign-affiliated firm 外資系企業 don't want to be promoted, but they want to have their salary raised,on the other hand,we the Japanese are the contrary.

We seem like to get a promotion rather than to get the raise.

Instead of the rest,if using a break and saying,“get a break”it's more colloquial.

The get also means conveying something. When saying,“Get someone somewhere.”,it means carrying someone somewhere,so in brief it means approaching its destination.

On the other hand,“Not get someone anywhere.”means that the person can't be carried anywhere,so he or she won't reach its destination.

【The get of intransitive verbs】

The get is a kind of feelings, especially the intransitive one is apt to move around willfully.

There are some idioms which remind us of its usage like the next.

Get in means something starts.Get out of does that something stops.Get on does that using official transport facilities like bus, train and so on.

Get off means that stepping off some vehicles.Get into trouble does causing something tiresome.Get over does changing from a railway to other railway.

Get ahead means being promoted.Get down does being depressed.Get by does passing through something, cutting corners something important.Getting through does realizing something.

It seems that I see the place where I head for.By the way,in general we call a willful person a free a free spirit in English.

1st rule《Get to means becoming something.》

When saying,“She becomes pregnant.”I'm wondering if its way of saying is a little old-fashioned.

Usually we say“She gets pregnant.”It's originally“She gets to be pregnant.”but the part of the『to be』is omitted.

In general, when saying becoming something, let's learn it by heart as get to do something.

How can I get to see the Prime Minister?

どうすれば首相に会えるようになるのか?

Now I get to the point where I can make it on my way.

独りでやっていけるところまできた。

I want to get to yes,but the answer I get back is always no.

2nd rule.《Get,verb and ing means starting something.》

Let's get going.

Get,verb and ing is equal to begin, verb and ing.

If finding it boring,I won't feel like going on expressing any more,so I'm going to stop this thread. It can't be helped.

However,it doesn't always mean that I stop studying English, for there are such a lot things to express in English that I can't give up doing.

By the way,I've wanted to express on food, but I find it impossible, for it'll definitely tempt me to drink, and to my sorrow,I won't resist the temptation.

When being in sober,if thinking of wasting time on drinking,I find it useless, but I can't overcome the temptation of drinking.I'm afraid I'm alcoholic.

Once being in alcoholic, almost all of the people will end up suffering from alcoholic forever, for even if abstaining from drinking for a long time, even little amount of beverages makes them alcoholic again.

luckily,I've never suffered from any hallucinations and never ruined my health, but I can't stop drinking.

All of you who have read my thread until now, thank you very much.So long.
